

Jesus Lives, and So Shall I
This past weekend I had the privilege of officiating the funeral for a military veteran, and member of our church. At the graveside service, I read two stanzas of a wonderful text written by Christian Gellert in 1757. It is a tremendous text of the glorious hope we have, both in this life, as well as for eternity, because of our risen Savior, Jesus Christ. Here is the text in full. Dear Refuge of My Weary Soul
I enjoy finding "new to me" hymn texts. Some are written fairly recently, while others are rather old. I came across one this morning by Anne Steele (1716-1778), an English Baptist and Poet. It captures the heart cry of a person who is weary and heavy laden, coming to God, and finding rest, strength, and grace to help in time of need. May it encourage your fainting heart today.
